Holiday and New Year Party Hairstyles

Holiday2014

Big Polished Waves

Creating big, polished waves has been a big hit this year and here’s your chance to wow everyone with this easy hairstyle. This elegant look can be attained best with longer hair and by adding Shu Uemura’s Texture Wave dry finishing spray to have a long lasting look while not looking stiff or sticky. For an added effect, try pulling and pinning hair all to one side to show off the neck and any accessories you have on. This hairstyle will also open and frame the face.

Faux Bob

A fun look that changes up your hair length without the use of scissors. This classy, sophisticated, super-glamorous bob can give flattering volume around the face. This look can be created with a handful of bobby pins, beachy waves, and Kerastase Laque Noire to finish the look with a strong hold.

Chignon

This feminine, classic, easy updo can be created by twisting a ponytail into a knot and pinning it into place with bobby pins. Adding a sparkly hair pin, or a favorite headband can dress up this hairstyle up for a night out on the town. It works with any dress and holiday look you are going for. Use Shu Uemura’s Touch of Gloss balm to add shine, like a lip gloss for hair, to finish the look.

Texturized and Volumized Sleek Ponytail

A look that is so versatile with any hair, easy to do, and polished. As seen in the photo, this model has finished the ponytail off by wrapping a piece of hair to hide the hair tie. As well as adding an extra elastic to segment the hair off, giving another dimension to the hair. Use with Shu Uemura Essence Absolue Oil to give sleek and soft look.

Bowie Beauty Bar – hairstyles and up-styles for 2014

Bowie Beauty Bar is OPEN!  Our professional stylists offer the best up-styles and up-do’s from the red carpet and runway.

Bowie Salon Model 571crop

Bouffante

This look was created for a photo shoot that Stacie Bowie created 14 years ago! It goes to show that a great stylist and a classic up-style is timeless. It looks effortlessly beautiful and elegant, she exudes a royal presence .  Here are a few of our 5 up-styles for 2014.

 Top Knots

Top Knots are a classic alternative to a ponytail that compliment all face shapes and are extremely versatile for any event. Whether you are running errands or a night out on the town with the girls—they can be messy or sophisticated. Our Beauty Bar stylists are extensively trained and can help create your desired look. Not enough time for a blow out? Just wake up and head over to our salon—top knots are ideal for next day hair! The styling products we offer at Bowie Salon & Spa will only enhance and maintain your final look at home.  If you’re in need of a casual knot, volume up top would give it the perfect amount of texture for tousled look. For a more elegant top knot an embellished headband is the perfect touch to complete your ensemble.

Turn everyday pony into chic up style by hiding elastic with wrapped hair

Fishtail Braid

Fishtail Braid

Braided

Braided Hairstyles are timeless and your options are infinite!  The first braid every girl learns to do is the typical three-strand, Dutch braid. Which can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be- they can be worn to the side, crown, or with your hair down.  One of our go-to favorites is the fishtail braid; this braid offers an intricate look and matches any occasion. The fishtail braid is sure to reel in endless compliments, whether you want a more structured braid or a deconstructed bohemian feel. We especially love the appearance of highlighted hair with a braided style; it gives the hair dimension and a seamless look.

Chignon

The Chignon offers a refined and sleek look.  All your hair is pulled away from your face and positioned in low ponytail at the back of your neck. Your hair will then be curled and placed to create the perfect chignon.

 French twist

Not your typical French Twist at our beauty bar, we have taken a modern twist on a classic favorite. Having your French twist positioned diagonally creates an asymmetric 60s style, as seen on one of our favorite retro TV shows—Mad Men.  Another twist with a flare is the reverse French twist. This look has volume at the crown with curls cascading out of the bottom of the twist. This up-style Jessica Alba wore a romantic double-braid style finished with a relaxed bun at the nape. In 2011, Kate Beckinsale turned a basic ponytail into a sexy and easy up-do by adding a bouffant for extra height and curling the ends for a flirty touch.
